I understand there are some technical limitations on that front preventing this. Ability to shuffle a created queue - something I used to do is add maybe a couple albums together in a queue and hit shuffle - not something Plexamp can do without doing it as a playlist first.Probably just me but I wouldn't mind the search bar being persistently at the top or bottom of every screen except for Now Playing. Search bar everywhere that isn't now playing screen. Some of these are reasonable and some of these are probably less so, but I figured since /u/ElanFeingold lurks these parts, I might share even my wild ideas. I have kept YTM for those times I just want to stream something.īelow are some feature suggestions/hopeful improvements. Overall, Tidal integration was a disappointment for me and I dropped Tidal, blew some cash on Bandcamp and got whatever I didn't have in Plexamp as local media. You don't get to benefit from the Tidal recommendations or playlists because it is treated as an entirely separate library. (I have no foreign language music in my library) It constantly played like cover songs of songs I know and even stuff in other languages. I was hoping it would improve but I really never got it to recommend me good stuff. An example - Turnstile came out with a new album and it was available on release day on Tidal, but Plex nor Plexamp showed it available for a couple days. Speaking of new releases, Plex's tidal integration lags behind for new releases.Tidal metadata is not perfect! It didn't seem like we could edit any of that on our end so it does become a hinderance if you a trying for the perfect metadata library.Pretty much a guarantee the only new releases I'll see are huge names. New releases - I understand the limitations but Plexamp only seeing the 100 or whatever new releases is pretty limiting.I realize volume normalization is the devil, but with my eyes shut I could always easily tell when a song from Tidal comes on. Tidal song volume is louder than my library. The idea of having Tidal library + my personal library seemed like the utopia I had with GPM, but it falls short in several places. While I could categorize most of this in "Areas for Potential Improvement", I felt like Tidal really deserves its own spot. Unlike normal metadata based matching, this will get similar songs matched together even if the artists are distant. I love being in total control of adding things to the top or bottom of queue. Queue system - its sad I have to even highlight this, but so many services get this wrong (cough spotify). If you drive a lot in dead spots, its great that Plexamp is constantly caching your queue ahead of time so playback is uninterrupted. Google Play Music did this but YTM seemingly does not. This is a big one that Plexamp does flawlessly. (Don't flame me on this, I'm just explaining my use case) I know several people want to download their entire catalog but that defeats the purpose of Plex server in my opinion - I just have it smart download my liked songs/library radio and am pretty content with that.
